Christmas Is Almost Here, Clay!

Christmas 2009, is soon approaching. This year especially, has been a year of reflection for me.
I've spent the last 2 years going through Chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer. With 2 remissions, and now a third recurrence coming. I've learned all over what 'having regrets' is all about.
I wouldn't be where I am today, without my family support behind me, and they mean the world to me.
I've had 2 different Oncologists tell me within a month of each other, that I WILL die from this Cancer. I thought I was always the kind of woman who wanted the truth, no matter what the cost.
I was wrong.
Their words removed my 'HOPE', and depression set in something fierce.
All my life, I've been taught that 'someone always has it worse than me, no matter what battle I may be in.
I temporarily forgot my own motto, as I sunk deeper and deeper. I lost my hope, I lost my fight, and I lost the will to even get up each day.
I kept searching, and searching for a way to escape my selfish thoughts, almost to no avail.
Within the last 3 weeks, I happened to see a child in a wheelchair on tv, who obviously had life worse than I. Just the fact that the wheelchair is the only way they can live, was enough knowledge to take away my selfish self pity ways.
Since that day, my HOPE is back, my struggles are lessened, and I am once again in the Survivor mode of living.
This time of year, being a hard core Clay Aiken fan, is my favorite for listening to Clay singing.
Fortunately, I met Clay on November 5th, 2005 at the JNT concert in Eugene, Oregon
He is indeed a Man of Integrity, Upstanding Character, Morals , Values, and Honesty.
Having his Christmas music to listen to as I go through these battles, I am not unarmed. I am not a loser, I am a winner!!!

May you and your family always turn to each other for the love, and May you, and your family always turn to Clay Aiken, for the beauty of his voice, as he sings out the traditional Christmas songs that bring all of us closer to one another. Whether it be family, or Clay fans.
Dear Lord.... Bless my loved ones, my Clay friends, and Clay, Parker, and Jaymes. Oh, and don't forget Grandma Faye!!!

I wish I could capture a moment in time....
It's 6:00am this morning, I'm driving down a 4 lane One way, and it's dark out. The amber lights are glowing down onto the street in front of the car, as I drive along. There is a little bit of sprinkling going on, so the feeling of good isolation inside my car is going on. Also, the dark tinted windows help that feeling. I am all alone, and decide to roll the window down about 2-3 inches.
In my CD player, is ATDW. Broken Wings comes on, and is ethereal. There isn't another car in sight, on this massive 4 lane One Way. The lights in the buildings that surround me are amber also, it seems. Then again, it could be the tinted windows that make all the lights look amber. A very warm lighting, and Clays voice projecting all around me.
It was like taking a walk in the rain, or sitting on the beach at night, around a campfire. It was so gentle, so emotional. So beautiful. I just love this CD. I want to scream at the world," Listen to this, hear what I hear".
The vocals, and the backing music are like none other. I've listened to this CD hundreds of times, I never tire of it, and I can never get enough of it.
I wish I could only capture that moment on film, as I've captured it in my memory bank.

{{{ I know that Clay has OMWH out, and I love it, but I just can't stop listening to ATDW.The whole album to me, is breathtakingly beautiful. His voice mingled with all of the backing vocals, and instruments, I truly believe that he gave his all for this album. I think (my opinion only) that when Clive Davis insisted on this album of 'covers', Clay knew that wasn't what we, his fans were expecting, and feeling a disappointment coming from us, he put his heart and soul into every single note, every line of every song. It is too bad that this album is getting brushed past by all, including fans, in favor of OMWH. I hope that Clay fans didn't just shelve this marvelous album, because it isn't what they wanted. If so, they are the ones losing out. It will always remain my favorite.}}}

Raleigh, N.C. — Clay Aiken became a father Friday morning with the birth of a baby boy, his mother told WRAL’s Lynda Loveland in an exclusive interview.

Aiken’s best friend, producer Jaymes Foster, gave birth at 8:08 a.m. at an undisclosed location in North Carolina.

Parker Foster Aiken weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Aiken’s mother, Faye, said the baby has dark hair and that her son is smiling from ear-to-ear.

Mom, dad and baby all are doing fine.

I smiled a real cute smile at momma yesterday, when she was getting a Mt.Dew out of the fridge, but she just looked at me, picked me up, and put me over her shoulder, started patting me on my back. I burped, and I didn't even get a sip of the Mt.Dew, daddy.

When momma leaned down to pick me up, she spilled a little bit on my cheek I was trying to get it when Raleigh came over, and ......

Good Ol Durham, now he just comes over and looks at me.

Cousin Jamie came over today, and fixed up my hair for next weeks doctor visit, and for MY trip to Spamalot.
She fixed it just like yours used to be, when you first became a Star, she says.

Well, it's been a 'Wicked' trip I took, into the Stratosphere, and back.
2 days after my last blog, Clay announced to the world, what 'they' say, everyone should have already known. He's Gay.
Big Deal.
Is that it?
I thought for sure the announcement was going to be , 'Parker has left Raleigh, and is in New York with daddy. '

'MyBad'.
I was all ready to post the blog,in response to the outpour of conversation on the message boards, when I realized nothing could stop my local phone company from coming between my Internet, and I.
Yikes!!
That bill didn't get paid with the 12 Billion Bailout???
WTF?? No money for ME?? What's Up with that??
So, traveling into the stratosphere, on a virtual Internet hiatus, I sulked, and cried, and laughed, and busted butt, trying to get back to my Clayfandom,my 'Clayboard', and my abandoned 'Marti Says' blog.
Finally, after the world has sulked, cried, laughed, and made decisions to hang in there, or abandon the fandom,.....without my input,without my support,without my protestations...
I get my service back.
With nothing much left to add to all that has been discussed, dissected, hashed, and rehashed, all I can seem to offer is this fantastic video by the LBFCA women.
It pretty much says how I feel about the news.

All I can add is ............ I wish they'd have written the "Yes, I'm Gay" a little bit smaller, so I could steal the WHOLE picture of Clay and Parker for my own selfish use. haha
All I can say to Clay is............. May you now feel Peace inside, being able to be who you were born as.
I'm 1 fan who accepted you at face value 5 years ago.

There was an invasion on Broadway this weekend, as American Idol star Clay Aiken returned to Spamalot to reprise his role as Sir Robin. Aiken first played the role last Spring, and then left for the summer. His return to the show was greeted with an outpouring of enthusiasm and accolades from fans. The most passionate Aiken fans are known as Claymates and they rival the theatre gangs of long ago.

The celebrated British actor Edmund Kean had "the Wolf Club." Kean's wolves were fans who would drink with him, and hound out theatrical rival actors with the violent tactics more commonly associated with criminal street gangs. The loyal fans of American actor Edwin Forrest and British actor William Macready fought to the literal death spurred on by their loyalty to their respective actor. The Astor Place riots were a real theatrical tragedy caused by passionate fans. Well, Clay Aiken can rest soundly at night knowing that he has his own passionate gang of theatre and Broadway fans known as Claymates, and they are ready to do battle for Clay if need be. From the moment the news of his reprise on Broadway broke, the Claymates have been out in full force supporting their Idol. Katie Holmes doesn't have fans like these. Few people do.

No worries about violence, the Claymates seem more about celebration than intimidation. Those fretting a Shubert Alley Riot with Claymates battling Ace Young Fans or Daniel Radcliffe enthusiasts will be disappointed. Looking over the sea of exuberant comments posted on Broadway.tv, Clay Aiken's return should give all Broadway fans a reason to smile.

"Opening night was amazing, the entire show was magical!," writes Dolly. "Clay brings an excitement to the stage that infects the entire audience and cast. Clay's performance last night was full of joy and everyone seemed to enjoy the night," posts music fan. Bedford posits, "For those of us fortunate enough to have seen this young man in concert, we knew he could do anything he wanted to. We were, once again, amazed at his talent. The entire cast is to be congratulated on making this play so darn funny! Mike Nichols was correct when he said Clay Aiken was an amazing comic actor!" The list of comments seems endless, and a quick trip through the blog will bear witness to the enthusiasm Clay Aiken is bringing to Broadway.

Spamalot is a musical-comedy that embraces the absurd and delights in the unusual. As a recording artist, Aiken clearly has the vocal capacity to interpret any number of musical roles (one fan suggested "Pippin"). That said, that Aiken has chosen to come to Broadway and return to Broadway in this comedy says a great deal for his willingness not to take himself too seriously. His fans' enthusiasm and joy in his performance suggest that Broadway should enjoy taking Clay Aiken very seriously indeed. Like Fantasia igniting The Color Purple, or Reba transforming Annie Get Your Gun!, Clay fits Sir Robin and Spamalot like a glove.

I was somewhere....in the dark......... warm and toasty...
. when all of a sudden
I went on a road trip...
I laid around relaxing for a few days, getting to know mom and dad, and gramma.....
We been kicking back, drinking bottles, ( just me lol), and talking amongst ourselves, and daddy says we're going on another road trip real soon( OH NO, I hope it isn't *daddys' *soon*)

It's August....The Baby's Coming, the baby's coming

It's now August, and from the rumor mills, we are expecting to hear that Jaymes Foster will be giving birth to her very first, beautiful gift from GOD. You know you want to be there, but it isn't possible. I want to be there in spirit, so Jaymes will know there are many, many people out here, on the outside, looking in, quietly waiting to hear that it is indeed.............TIME TO CELEBRATE, THE BABY IS ON THE WAY!!
So......... we can't be there. I know.......... I'm sad too, but we can celebrate in many ways, and hopefully she'll find out someday, somehow, that we all are so happy for her. As a parent myself, I know that she is about to embark on a journey of teaching a child, and a child teaching her.
Truly, a gift from GOD.

Jaymes, We wish you the safest delivery, the easiest of pain, and the biggest of smiles when you first lay your eyes on that little bundle of joy. An early..Congratulations to both parents, from lots and lots of people out in cyberspace.

I Can't Put Daisy Down

First off, this blog is different today, as I need YOUR help with a real life dilemma I face daily. After you read this blog, will you take a minute to comment some feedback/advice to me.
Once you read the story, you'll know what I need to decide.
Then, I am putting up a story I wrote last year about my Daisy, you might enjoy reading.

My Daisy.....
Daisy is my 18 year old Long Haired Chihuahua. I rescued her from an abusive home,and have had her for 6 years.
Well, Daisy is completely blind now, and deaf. Her eyes are going shut, and everyday when I get home from work, I take her into the bathroom, and wash out her little sunken eyes.
Then I wrap her up in a towel, and hold her close, until she starts snoring.
I turn on her little hot pad in her bed, and put her to bed.
My dilemma is that she suffers with this eye situation, it is a little painful when I wash the dried up eye goo off of her eyes. I do it twice a day.
I feel like she should be 'put down', but I don't believe it is up to me to make that choice. I'm of a Christian faith, and I believe that God will take her when He decides it is her time to go.
If she were suffering tremendously, I'd probably make that decision myself. But her eye washing is a 10 minute discomfort for her.
Knowing how she suffered abuse for years, I'm feeling guilty that she has to deal with ANY pain for her final days with me.
What do I do?? What would you do?? Does anyone have a similar story to tell me, so I can try to figure this all out?
I worry that 'IF' I made a choice to put her to sleep, then would God consider that a sin, and I'd be held accountable on my 'judgement day' before HIM.
I appreciate anyones input on this. I wrestle with what to do every day.
This is completely serious. Thanks for any viewpoints I receive.

My Mom, and Daisy, My Little Dog written in 2007ve been wanting to write this story,but trying to figure out how to put it all together, to hold the interest of a reader.Also, how to intermingle it properly.

My Mom,her name was Lois, was a hard, unemotional woman raised by an abusive mother. My grandma. I Never met her. Mom never knew her father.
Mom never let her guard down, and it was such rare occasions that I saw her weep, I remember them so very well.
She cried when my sister passed away, in 2001.
Then I didn't see her cry again, until the day she played Clays' version of 'Solitaire' in her CD player, my brother had bought her.
She didn't like us to see that side of her, so for years, and years, we didn't.
By the time I saw her cry,it was in her room. I walked in, and the song was playing.
I wouldn't have known she was crying, if I hadn't looked over at her.
By this time, in moms life, I was taking care of her, her medical condition was pretty deteriorating. Even so, she was more stubborn than a mule when it came to showing emotions.
When mom saw, that I had seen her, she took on the 'harder side' of her personality again.
She stayed that way pretty much, until the last time she went into the hospital May 31,2006.
On her deathbed, is the first time that I saw my mom, 'vulnerable'.
It was the only time she said, "I Love You So Much", and I felt it, felt that she meant it.
The only time I feel, that she 'felt it.'
2 days before death, and I finally heard it, felt it.
2 days before her death, and she got to feel it, and hear it from me, and she felt it in her heart.
I have a 17 year old Chihuahua dog, that I got 5 years ago, from an abusive situation. Daisy, from Day 1, has been skittish, mistrusting,can't stand, or sit still, when I hold her.
No matter how much love and affection I could give her, she stayed the same. Always nervous, always backing up when I tried to pick her up.
Stepping backward, so I couldn't grip her, to lift her.
All these years, and I couldn't change her. I couldn't help her get better. To not be afraid that I was going to hurt her.
Well, this last year, Daisy and I, have both gone through some changes.
In the last 9 months of me going through having Cancer, and the treatments, my Daisy has been going through the process of becoming completely blind now with age, and deaf also.
I know that she is in her 'downward' turn.
We have pretty much turned to each other during these last 9 months.
Daisy no longer kicks, and rustles around in my arms. She completely trusts me now.
Daisy relies on me to pick her up, set her down at her bowl of water, or her bowl of food.
Now, when she is picked up, she sniffs me, and goes limp in my arms. Sometimes, she licks my hand. :-)
She is so lost without my help, she just stands still, for fear of bumping into walls, corners, furniture,etc...
My point to this true story is figuring out just what it took, for the 'changes' to happen.
Look at the gains made, yet look at the losses.
Why did mom, and Daisys' life have to have been so bad, that it took a massive change, for them to 'feel it'?
Every time I pick up Daisy now, I think of Mom. Seeing how Daisy is now 100% dependant on me for her life, has helped me to comprehend my moms life.
I hope to give Daisy all the love I can, to make her last days on earth easier for her, just like I tried to do with Mom.
I will miss them both............... alot!

Clay... One Small Soul

Around 3-4 years ago, I stumbled across a poem about Clay. It made me cry, it was so beautiful. It was written by a Clay fan who goes by the screen name, Nageea.. When I was off work for 10 months, dealing with my Cancer.........the only place I had it stored was in my work computer account. I was sad to find out that my account was closed from not being active. The only thing I was upset at losing, was this poem. Recently, I found Nageea once again. What she wrote so long ago, is still pertinent today, when it comes to what Clay has to put up with. Now, with her permission is what I treasure so deeply..................

One Small Soul

And Gabriel came to visit God,
in their warm and sunny land,
and found God sitting lost in thought,
a soul held in His hand.

“What are you up to, my Dear Lord
that makes you toil so long?
I thought you wouldn’t need much time
to fill that soul with song”.

“I did that first”, replied the Lord,
“ But then it came to me.
Why not add some other things
- there’s room enough, you see?.

His karma was to have a voice
that they’d call heaven sent
But other men have had the same;
I shall experiment.

There is a man we have with Us
who used to make them laugh
I think, perhaps this tiny soul
could use a bit of that.

Another’s here who gave her all,
that others might not suffer
This man I mold, he’ll be like her,
and make himself the buffer.

His path will be a thorny one
and often bleak and grim
for friends he’ll want, and comfort too
will be denied to him”.

He’ll feel the pain of being one
who’s locked behind the door
For things he has no way to change,
he’ll hurt, and suffer more.

“But Lord, with all the troubles that
You’ve put into his life
how can he overcome all that;
rejection, fear and strife?”.

“Look here, my dear sweet Gabriel,
look deep inside his core
I’ve woven in these threads of steel
- they’ll hold forever more”.

“Now I see this” said the angel,”
strength You’ve given to endure
and a smile to melt the hearts of men,
so sunny, bright and pure.

I do not mean to criticize, but oh!
- those ears! those feet !
You make him less than perfect,
Lord, he cannot have conceit!”.

“Ah yes”, smiled God, “I have indeed,
made a body without flow....
But that’s on purpose, Gabriel,
for the people aught to know

that perfection does not mean good looks
or a statuesque size four.
That bodies are but tools for folks
to wear while they explore

the heights and depths of humankind,
to find the joys of life,
of love and care and wonderment,
all ways to end their strife.

His ears will hear the cry of those who fall
and who have bled
Those feet will carry him to places
others fear to tread.

His walk will be a bumpy one,
oft treacherous at times
But he is made to persevere
and find more pleasant climbs”.

“It seems too much for one small soul
to carry such a load
how can you make him conquer in
a world that’s often cold?”

“Look closer now, into his soul,
it reaches out to Me
and brings along those others,
who would wish to be set free.

They’ll stop a moment in their work
to listen to his song
for he will be the teacher that they’ve
waited for so long.

His life will be an open book,
his actions will be ample

Don't Just Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk like Clay Does

I recently returned from a UNICEF field visit that took me to northwest Somalia. What I saw there was both amazing and heartbreaking. In many ways, the children I was able to meet are doing better than their counterparts in the rest of Somalia. But in other respects, the situation there is still quite serious.

For starters, the lack of a permanent central government has contributed to Somalia's status as one of the poorest and most volatile countries in the world. Decades of civil conflict have shattered social structures and exacerbated poverty.

In such conditions—combined with an extremely arid environment and difficult terrain with settlements scattered over vast distances—a Somali child's chances of surviving to adulthood are among the lowest of children anywhere in the world.

Fortunately, UNICEF is there. It has been on the ground since 1972 and is the humanitarian organization with the largest presence in Somalia.

Since the collapse of the Somali government in 1991, UNICEF has continued to provide services to children and women in Somalia.

In Hargeisa, I visited UNICEF-supported schools and hospitals, as well as places girls are able to learn about leadership, get life-skills and play sports. I also visited UNICEF-supported maternal and child health clinics to observe some nutritional feeding and immunization activities. The good news is that these programs are working in the northwest and keeping children alive. The bad news is that one in eight children still dies before his or her fifth birthday in Somalia.

One of the most incredible things I learned on my trip is that there are only 350 doctors left in the entire country, mostly because of the violence and insecurity. And many of these doctors are older than the average life expectancy in Somalia, which is only 45. I can't help but wonder, what is going to happen in a couple of years when there are no more doctors? What will happen to the children who struggle to survive?

What disturbs me most about this terrible situation for children is that most of the world has ignored it. Millions of children live in fear and poverty—where is the outrage?

IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO REPEAT THE APPEAL FOR DONATIONS.

Frisco, Texas Who Can Forget... 1 Year Ago Today!

It was 1 year ago today, many of us were down in that nice little town of Frisco, Texas.
Finding our seats in that HUGE arena, Pizza Hut Park.
I met OkClayhoman, and NoMistaikinAiken down there, and many other Clay fans. The clouds that had brought rain for the past 2 days, parted, and just as we got into Frisco, the sun came out, and stayed out until dusk.
What a Fantastic day and night that was.It didn't rain the rest of the night. Who can forget the moment this happened.........

Over 14,000 people spent the 4th of July,2007 together, in the company of great music. It was truly Awesome!!
Seeing Clay put that cowboy hat on, on the Jumbotrons, I thought we were all going to THUD, and cave in the field.
The soccer game was fun, the crowd loved Clay.The fans were all over the field dancing to the songs.It ended with 'GOD Bless the USA'. Perfect day, perfect night. Thanks Clay, for the memories.

It's Sunday, and a couple days ago, I read a small article, that really made me think. There is a guy named Tim Worstall , and apparently he has written about Clay prior to the article I read.
I don't remember his writings, and the only way I saw this one, was from a 'Clay Aiken' google alert.
Well, Tims' first words in the article were, " I've mocked Clay Aiken before.... " and I was on the defensive already, but curious as all Hell, to see what he was going to say. Seriously, as I read, I was waiting for that proverbial other shoe to drop, if you know what I mean.
After 5 years of seeing the slams in print day after day, month after month, year after year, I knew Tim was going to come back with some kind of slam about Clay.
What he said from that point on has been rolling around in my head for 2 days now.

Clay Aiken On Somalia

I may have mocked Clay Aiken in the past, but this time he's doing the right thing and reminding us about Somalia. What I feel is important here is that he's has been to these countries, many celebrities will embrace a cause just because it makes them look good, very few of them will travel to see the reality.

Clay has been to Somalia and he's also been to Afghanistan, he's seen the reality of life for people in those places and he should be respected for it.

Now , I was overwhelmed with emotions, from what Tim had done. He had , in a public forum with his reputation at risk, admitted being guilty of making fun of Clay, and then professing his change of heart, and acknowledging a respect for Clay.

I like to pick my battles when it comes to defending Clay, and I also like to commend when I see a good point being made too.
The very first comment in regard to this article, just stirred me instantly. Here are a few of the comments, and a couple responses from me, Martigyrl, and me,aka SuzyQ.

What entitles any of us to mock another person,when that person tries to live a clean, upstanding life?
What does he do to deserve the mocking, what does anyone do to get it done to them?
It is all a form of bullying, done by people who feel less than they want to about themselves. I think they lack the qualities they admire in others, and mocking is a way they feel content.
It's sad.
Clay has been 'doing the right thing' for 5 years now, but it is hard to see and know about, when the storyline is always about tabloid journalism subject matter.
While they toss Grammys to Winehouse, with good aim so as to not break the crack pipe in her pocket, Clay Aiken is walking the walk, and talking the talk. Reaching down and extending a helping hand, to people who only know him as a "real nice famous American guy who wants to help us."

SuzyQ you summed up what should be said about all this mocking of Clay Aiken. It is beyond me to come to any understanding at all why society feels somehow tearing someone down who just does not measure up to what their 'preconceived' notion of what a "man" should be could in anyway make them feel better?? These people , including the late night talk shows are nothing but schoolyard bullies.

We applaud people like "Amy Crackhouse" and Little 'slimy" Wayne but yet a man who puts his life on the line such as Clay Aiken is mocked just because we don't take the time to find out what a remarkable person he is , but instead chose to believe the tabloids!!

The truth that sets us free is for the most part the truth which some prefer not to hear. A lie told often enough ,sometimes becomes the truth to them !! Clay has stated 2 times he is not gay , plus he has said it is none of anyone's business .
I admire him for what he brings to the table as an entertain and how this beautiful soul continues to take back his life and walk the talk of who his is being comfortable in his own skin! I just pray for you who seem to get a chuckle from attacking him can look at yourselves in the mirror and say the same thing !!

Thanks go out to the writer of this article, for recognizing that there comes a time in our personal lives, when we need to repair possible flaws in our value system.
Seems as though through your introspection, a lesson has been learned.
I'm elated to see you use the word,'respect' in speaking Clay Aikens' name.
He has just been to an extremely dangerous country, and he is building an honorable legacy of humanitarianism.
{Sometimes all it takes is the silent walking of one lone man, to make a difference.To bring about change, and to make others think twice about themselves, and how they treat other mankind.}

I really intended my compliment for suzyq, although Matt's was a good one also. But I loved suzyq's comment about Winehouse receiving grammy after grammy. I'll never understand our culture, but I won't give up trying.

I do believe that Tim Worstall, has taken that walk this week, and I commend him for that. Who knows how he will be in his next mention of Clay, but I like to believe that a change has occurred within. I like to think that he really did see something different in Clay, then he had before this article.
